he or she?

When I was a little kid people would think that I was a boy and they would ask my mom what her son's name was. She would say that I was a girl and then I would get embarrassed and hide. When I was in my late teens and early twenties I would get really upset at people who called me "sir", I would say no I'm a girl. Of course most of the time they wouldn't understand or they would apologize. Now I don't care, I don't even correct them. I guess I'm finally okay in my own skin!
